I was careful to pick a provider that had already researched and included the files required to make the game work with Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. The game installed without a hitch on my Vista laptop. I have not tried it yet with the windows 7 OS. Since the game is older, it's graphics are it's weak point. Game play, strategy and detail however, are very entertaining. Play options include single battles, campaigns or key battles covering the entire Civil War. A historical summary is provided of each battle before you begin with objectives. The tutorial helps you understand the game play fundamentals quickly.

hey, i love this game. i've played it since i was a kid. i'm now running it on win xp pro on my macbook pro and it's working just fine !

Very well created game
Short learning curve...complicated but easy to play. Packed a whole lot into one game. One of the best I've played. Great art & graphics. John Schroth

No matter what anyone tells you, this 1998 game will NOT operate in Windows 7

Outdated in every way but still fun to play. Buy this if you like older, turn based, hex grid strategy war games.

I love this game!
I have been playing this game since it came out in 1998, and wanted to get a newer copy of it for my new computer. The game was deigned to be played on the Windows 95/98 platform, so trying to get it to play on my new computer with Windows 8 was quite a task. I did accomplish getting it installed and set up correctly on my new computer though, and have been playing it constantly since then. This game was so easy to navigate through and didn't need a 50-page booklet to guide you through it like the games of today do. CWG2 is a classic and I'm glad that I bought a newer disc.

a blast from the past
a great old games from Windows 95 era. My wife was able to make it run on XP. not easy to install however on the new system.
