Free delivery on qualified orders. Review: A great book for any Mughlai food enthusiast - This is not just a book of recipe's. Its a story book that details how food is made. I loved it for all its history, details of a kitchen, and how recipes evolved in our time. Hats off to Chef Sadaf. One of the more homely books I have read. This book is not for shelf, but to be read and enjoyed and shared with your friends. Bonus: I got my book signed by the Author ;-) Review: Every food has a story - A good book with simple traditional recipes and the true story behind it. The author narrated it very well with nostalgic feeling. The drawback I found that the stories were elaborate so that the recipes were limited to just 30 numbers. It will be much better if it had balanced the recipes and stories ratio in a such a way that can accommodate more recipes . Also the recipes were very basic and some recipes were not seems accurate to the dish, may be a different variant, especially seems it wrong in the preparation of butter chicken. Will be better if the book can included more traditional recipes from North Indian Muslim kitchens, where there had a fabulous array of dishes.

So much more than a recipe Book!
If you are buying the book not just because you are a food lover but like the author as well *wink wink* then You should definitely go for It. Sadaf is not just a chef but also a storyteller and takes you on a food/life journey. Every recipe has a personal story and the simplicity and unpretentiousness of the writing will make you want to come m back to it. PS- has a lot of recipes for vegetarians as well. PPS- Paan story is my favourite.

The Daastan worth repeating!
Sadaf is a master at culinary story telling! A lovely nostalgic take on a cuisine that is both cherished and now can be attempted by anyone, thanks to Daastan-e-Dastarkhan! Would highly recommend for people who are wary of picking up non-fiction!

This was a blind buy based on price alone and it is wonderful. Taking you through an Indian odyssey of 30 recipes and stories. Indian Masterchef contestant Sadaf talks so lovingly of food , family and friends. if you are a foodie you will thoroughly enjoy it. The recipes are not common ones and I speak as someone with over 1000 cookbooks who reads them obsessively. Beautifully researched with care. I really hope he writes more books and shares more recipes for home cooked Indian food
