Love reading through this with my littles as we go through learning about poetry. Has simple and short poems that are easy for smaller kids to listen to

The poems are great. I pick the shorter ones now. Maybe move on to longer ones in the spring. The illustration is very pleasing to the eye. Great art.

Hoberman is a master. This collection is a sheer delight to read; truly, there are no duds. Many are funny, some are poignant. The poet's love of the language and the care with which she handles it are obvious. All of my children have numerous favorites; we come back to this book over and over.

I bought this book for reading to my grandchildren. I chose it because I'd heard of the title but nothing else.... I wanted to read a couple of the poems myself so I'd be familiar with them before reading them to the kids and I was hooked! I've read it 3 times... by myself.... it's perfect in that the poems are rhyming and have beautiful, playful rhythms. The author also teaches about different animals in such a fun and even, believe it or not, sophisticated way!

My students loved the poems in this book. We used it during a poetry unit and was really entertaining. I definitely recommend this book to share with your child!

This was recommended on a homeschool book list, and I put off buying it for a while because I don't have strong feelings about poetry. I finally decided to buy it, and my kids (ages 4-8) have enjoyed the assortment of poems. Many are about animals, some are actually quite informative, others funny, a few are not of the rhyming sort. There is one poem that says we are related to apes, which I didn't care for (but it could be skipped if just reading aloud).

I had a poetry collection by Mary Ann Hoberman when I was a child. It is long since out of print. I was delighted to find this collection to share with my niece. The poems range from clever puns to silly rhymes, and I love every one!

We got this book as a part of my daughters preschool curriculum and so far we love it! I love that the poems are short and sweet and my daughter has been really enjoying them.

Beautiful poems and all the more interesting and educational because they are about children living in the States. Good descriptions of animals and insects not see here. It covers numerous things that children enjoy like dressing up. The illustrations are enchanting. Full of fun and character as well as very pretty.

A brilliant choice of poems to introduce to kids...really fun, innocent and educational

I've never been happier reading poetry with my kid.!!

A must read for kids and grown ups. She's a master crafter.
