Go chunky
For starters I would like to say that I would definitely generally recommend the Microsoft brand headsets to anyone looking to buy a headset for their xbox 360, my first two headsets were Madcatz ones and while the first one was great if quite uncomfortable the second one wasn't so nice and died much quicker. Now then, as far as the Microsoft brand headsets go I definitely have to advise buying one with the chunky plug in if at all possible, I know a lot of people prefer the sleeker look of the volume and mute controls being on the middle of the cord but if you're anything like me and have a cat or dog or even little siblings or are just a bit clumsy you will be having it yanked out at every turn. The benefit of the chunky plug ins is that they take more force to actually be yanked out so half of the time that a skinny plug mic would be jerked out by my cat jumping off my lap the chunky one remains firmly plugged in, this is important because the only thing that has ended up killing my mics aside from the one my friends cat chewed through, is the cord being yanked out repeatedly. If you want your mic to last you a long time try and make sure it doesn't get pulled out of the controller often because this damages it and eventually causes it to crackle when moved and screech in your friends ears when unplugged or just at random. I have owned 3 different Microsoft headsets and have a 4th one being sent right now, the first was a spare from my fiance who had it for some time though hadn't used it much, that one was fantastic, worked great, was comfortable and when it died it was only because a stupid cat bit through the cord while I was sleeping at my friends house (Curse you Nala!). The second was the black headset that came with my new xbox 360 slim and I have to say it was a pile of fail, the sound quality wasn't as good as the old one from my fiance, it was tighter and more uncomfortable, it didn't have the chunky plug and so ended up getting yanked out enough times that it died after only a month or two I believe. The 3rd and current one I ordered here and it has served me quite well, I bought it back in early september of last year and I have used it all day every day since then more or less (I speak to my fiance and best friends on xbox live everyday, sure saves any phone bill costs for long distance considering my fiance is in the UK and my best friend out of state lol), it like the one that was given to me has a chunky plug, great sound quality and is comfortable to wear. Unfortunately after serving me so well for so long it is now on its last leg after I returned home to my cat who proceeded to knock my controller clear off my lap onto my tile floor where the cord had no choice but to come free due to the long drop, considering the fact that earlier that day the same cat had yanked the thing clean off my head rather than it coming unplugged due to the chunky plug I really have to stand by my love for the volume and mute controls being at the plug in rather than on the cord allowing a more secure connection to my controller. I only hope that I'm lucky enough to manage to get another one rather than a skinny plug considering most of the sellers don't specify which one they're selling unfortunately, leaving me to guess. In short, Microsoft brand headsets, particularly the white and grey ones with the volume and mute controls at the plug in, giving them a chunky base have in my experience been great headsets. They have good sound quality, they're more durable than the cord control ones and they then end up usually lasting a great deal longer for someone like me who walks around the house talking on their headset and often snags the cord on things or those who also like me have a cat or other animal or even small siblings who might get tangled on the cord and yank on it. I would certainly stand behind purchasing the headset here at amazon where it is way cheaper than at somewhere such as Gamestop and in my experience works better too. This is a great buy, especially for such a low price and compared to other brands of headsets, these are usually better overall, in comfort, audio quality and durability. Just look out for cats, they seem to be the bane of all headsets >.>

Officially licensed products, always a good choice
Pretty much the same headset you receive with the XBOX slim models, works like it should and is made by Microsoft. Pros: Great replacement for those times you "accidentally" throw your original headset across the room. Cons: Though it's made by Microsoft, these headsets are anything but durable, I would dare to say they can be very fragile at times. A major shock, large drop on hard floors, and even "throwing" them might result in the product no longer working. I would suggest you buy this product only if you have no plans on getting a Gaming Headset (i.e. Astro A50s or them cheaply made Turtle Beaches) Great replacement and hopefully you learned your lesson that "blaming your headset" for your failures from online gaming isn't a great idea. If you didn't learn your lesson then I suggest you buy 2 or 3 maybe 6?

TOTAL JUNK!
I ordered this to replace my sons original headset, it was total junk straight out of the box. The earphones didn't work, no sound at all. He tested it many times on xbox live parties and although the microphone worked, he had no sound coming through the earphone. The package was undamaged so it was a trash product sent straight from the factory. When he attempted to wiggle the ear piece, thinking it was a loose connection, it broke off in his hands, exposing the reason why it didn't work, it looked like a monkey had done the soldiering. I can't send it back for a replacement as now the earpiece is broken off completely due to his attempts to get it to work, which I personally witnessed and he was very gentle! I am SO angry, he never even got to use it! It arrived broken and after he attempted to fix it now I can't even return it, I would have been better off just throwing the money away. Total junk! I will NEVER order another microsoft accessory again, stick to other brands for accessories!

Cheap way to have a high quality mic to use with xbox live
These are very high quality mics, they pick up your voice, not the tv or other stuff around you. I have to put up with so many of my friends whose mics are constantly bombarding me with noise. I use this with my xbox one and use amzn.com/B018ZTNEQE to convert it to work. (note: converting x360->x1 is not just a size change some of the poles on the jack need to be swapped) The mic that came with my xbox one was fine except it broke super quick after showing 0 signs of wear. This mic however ha lasted me months so it is durable on top of working very well. Lastly it has a very convenient volume and self mute control, which can be so crucial while playing on xbox live. this is such a cheap option even if i did something to break my mic it wouldnt matter since i can replace it for so little.

Basic Xbox 360 headset.
This is an efficient headset for anyone looking to save a buck and still enjoy their Xbox Live experience to the fullest. This particular headset differs from the older models in that it's mute button is located on the wire, near the mic itself, rather than where it plugs into the controller. Despite the durability issues of the default Xbox 360 headsets, they can give you years of basic voice communication only if you take proper care of them. Leaving them on the floor to get stepped on or throwing them in a fit of Xbox Live rage will surely shorten it's lifespan. Overall, I would recommend this headset for the casual to even slightly hardcore player. It doesn't take a fancy headset with all the bells and whistles to ensure you totally enjoy your Xbox Live experience. From Xbox Live player, "Really Unlucky".

It's Ok, But Shouldn't Be Used Anymore...
I got this because my dog chewed on my old one, and it was like new for $4. The price for what I paid for was good at the time. Other than that, the headset worked well for the first few weeks. After a while, sometimes I get problems with it. It will sometimes make buzzes when someone talks, and then when I unplug it and back in, the problem is solved. Sometimes, if I restart my Xbox, it also solves static problems. It sucked though and the cord can sometimes get in my way. At times, the headset doesn't feel comfortable to wear on your head at all. The headset also only has one side to hear from. I recommend getting the (Professional Headset), or the (Turtle Beaches X12). Do not buy this one, unless its a short temporary use until you're hoping to buy one of a higher quality. Other than that, this headset is not worth it, but that's just the thing...its very cheap!

My Son Loves It
My son uses it liternally everyday to play MineCraft. He can use it to organize a team to help building mansions or such (that is about the limit of what I know about MineCraft). Originally I thought having a wire attaching to the headphone can be a problem. Most of the wired headphones that I have ever used developed problem with the wire sooner or later. Luckily, the wire of this headphone is very short -- all it needs to connect is from the XBox control to the headphone. It doesn't need to connect directly to the XBox console itself. Seem like the wire being short minimizes the possibility of having a problem with the wiring. So far the only problem that my son has with this headphone has to do with the small metal rivet that connect the upper part of the headphone with the lower part. That rivet somehow was broken or something. I end up use a small metal bolt to replace the rivet. I got the metal bolt from an assorted pack from Radio Shack, and I choose a short one that can fit into the hole (left behind after the metal rivet was broken) very tightly. So far after 1 month it still holds up fine.

The best worst headset
The crappy little 360 headset in all its glory. Its uncomfortable, cheap, and probably the worst quality headset you can buy, but why spend tons of money on a headset that is only compatible with the 360 when almost no one plays online on it anymore. I highly recommend
