KURUI Wood Chopping Axe with Sheath, 15” Outdoor Camping Hatchet for Cutting and Kindling, Camp Splitting Axe with Fiber Glass Shock-Absorbent Anti-Slip Handle

Have not got to test or use yet. I am gearing up a molle panel that will hang inside jeep tailgate for storage of gears that is a have it and not need it then need it and not have it scenarios as well as maintaining self reliance out on trails. The hatchet in my opinion was fairly dull. Rather then hitting it with a file, I will take and have someone put a good sharp edge. Most likely ships dull for safety concerns of not going though box and injuries during shipping. Very pleased with the hatchet.

This was a good axe, heavy weight, sharp, with blade protection and a sheath. Looks and feels good, chopped as expected.

This ax is sturdy, solid and sharp. Well built. I would have give it all 5 stars except for one drawback. The ax taper towards the heal is low making the ax not very thick where it joins the handle. This keeps the ax fairly light and makes it easy to handle (pun intended), but it does not provide very much wedging of the wood you are trying to split. More wedging would make it better at separating thicker or harder wood.

I love the safety cover. It made me feel so much better working around the campsite with it, and even packing it in the car. I bought dried split firewood from a store near my campground, as requested by the parks service. I used this hatchet to further split some of those pieces into kindling. I found some nearby pine trees that were oozing pitch. I used one piece of kindling to spread pitch on another until I had several pieces smeared in pitch. I then stacked my kindling and lit the fire. This worked nicely without having to use chemical products with fumes and other hazards. With practice I might get even better at it. I suspect I may have some use for it in the garden as well.

Wow!! This KURUI Wood Chopping Axe with Sheath totally saved my life, I purchased this Axe for a camping trip a few months ago, as I was walking around in the mountains of colorado I found myself stranded in the middle of the forest, I ended up using this Axe to build a camp fire as it was too dark to find my way back, the next morning I woke up to a pack of wolfs surrounding me, as the lead wolf started charging after me, I quickly picked up the axe and threw it at it, the axe hit the wolf, bounced off and landed right back in my hand. I could not believe it. I’m glad because all off the sudden a grizzly bear jumped out of the woods and started chasing me, Once again i through the axe and it was enough to buy me some time to get away, I’d say it was a great investment.

I got this to chop down a small palm tree, it just splintered it. It did split a decent sized deciduous branch though. So if that's your reason for getting it, it would serve you well I think. It's a nice sturdy hatchet and not too heavy.
