I want to insulate our garage doors to keep garage warm in the winter. Will this help? Also, I have wooden doors, will this only work on steel doors?

According to most websites reflective foil needs at least a four inch gap between the outer wall and the foil. It works best when there is an air space. My garage door has foam panels than fit in each segment perfectly. Before you buy anything do a Google search and trust only reputable sources.

Is this stuff effective in keeping the radiance of the sun out of your room if you staple it to your window frame?

Yes, I use it in RV windows and it's remarkable at keeping the light and heat down. It would IMO work terrific in windows, just remember it's opaque.

Does this insulation need to be against the metal garage panels or leave an air gap to reflect the summer sun's heat? I need it to reflect heat

What I did was to cut it down to the right sizes of the garage panels and just gently squeeze them into each panel. Then I tested the outside and inside of each panel before and after the installation using an infrared thermometer during the peak summer here in Vegas and the average difference was about 13-17 degrees cooler inside.

How many square feet does this cover?

Rolls come in different sizes. Easy to cut to size with scissors. Cut a little larger than you need.
