MECCANO by Erector, 4x4 Off-Road Truck 25 Model Building Set, 443 Pieces, STEM Engineering Education Toy for Ages 9 and up

Good product. Imie doing this with my 4 year old son. He can’t quite do it on his own, but almost and it’s a good father son time. Two things: 1. Put batteries in the battery box before installing the battery box in the truck. 2. Stripping gears under load? See the picture. At step 4, put a washer between the gear (non-tooth side) and the black spacer. This puts more pressure to keep the gear teeth in contact and not stripping. Also, I moved the front axle up a bit by moving the little angle brackets up a couple holes so there is less of an angle at the front u-joint.

The reviews about the age rating being too low are understandable. It look my 11-year-old son 6-8 hours to put it together, with almost no help, and he is inclined to these kinds of things. I liked that it took him that long, and he found it challenging but very doable. A comparable Lego set he would've had done in a couple of hours.

Very hard to build

This building set is a little advanced for an 8 year old, but he's doing okay with some help! Very well designed and he loves it! The best part is the quality!

We were very disappointed with this product. I was super excited to build this with my boys. I thought it might be too easy for my 13 yr old because of his experience on the robotics team at school. Little did I know this would take us 2 entire Saturdays and some evenings to get mostly finished. After spending 20+ hours we are stuck on step # 51 out of 63 steps because there are 11 screws missing. I just contacted Spin Master to get the screws sent so we can finish building it. This product is made well and quite durable. I just feel like the age it's recommended for is WAY to young. There are LOTS and LOTS of VERY SMALL pieces and it is often near impossible to line them up to screw them together. I think this would be great for a group teenagers that enjoy being challenged. the fact that it can be assembled so many different ways is very supportive of creative thinking and problem solving. We will be sharing it with the robotics club and the talented and gifted class at school. I really can't wait to see what these groups are able to do with it!! We received this product free from Spin Master in exchange for sharing our honest opinion.

nice, instructions could have a little more information

My 11 year old brother was easier entertained with this project. It is an open-ended material that kids can use for a variety of creations. GReat quality.

I was disappointed. I thought this would be a really fun activity to do with my 9 year old, but he didn't really even get to play with it. I tried to set it up myself. I was confident going in as I'm no stranger to putting things like this together. The instructions were of moderate difficulty to follow. I especially liked that the pictures of the pieces needed in each step were to scale, so I could hold it up to the page and know it was the right size/length. The most difficult part of following the instructions was that many of the pieces, and thus the illustrations, were dark in color, so it was hard to see which hole was being used in each picture. Sometimes I'd figure out in a later step that I'd picked wrong, and have to fix my work. 2.5 hours in I was less than halfway through the instructions to build the 4x4. I sat down the next day to try to finish. Another 2 hours in, I discovered I was short some of the pieces. At 4.5 hours invested and no finished product, I can't recommend this toy. My 9 year old doesn't have that sort of attention span. I contacted the company and heard back within 48 hours, and they will send a replacement part. They were very easy to deal with! I am looking forward to trying to finish it, but I think we'll probably never take it apart once it's completed! I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

De niño había tenido un juego de Meccano. Es un producto que cumple al 100% en todo sentido: calidad de materiales, innovación, experiencia de usuario (Como cumple Lego). Lo compré para mis hijos, y estoy seguro que es un buen aporte para su inventiva y destreza. A diferencia de Lego, éste requiere más atención y destreza porque requiere el uso y manejo de tornillos y herramientas. Me gusta la versatilidad de la posibilidad de armar varios modelos. De mi parte muy satisfecho y lo recomiendo.

Un de mes préférés parmi les modèles "récents". Tout dépend à quel prix vous le trouvez (il n'est plus fabriqué, beaucoup en abusent).

Il marchio è una garanzia, il metallo con cui è fatto è di qualità. L'ho regalato ad un adulto appassionato di meccanica e veicoli off road e è stato super apprezzato. Regalo ottimo quindi anche per "bambini un po' cresciuti" :) come ricordato da altri recensori, sul manuale all'interno della scatola sono riportati solo 3 modelli gli altri li ho trovati su internet, anche se non proprio subito. alcuni modelli proposti sono senza il motore, se cercate proprio quello controllate prima di iniziare a montare se il modello che avete scelto lo prevede o meno. Prodotto super consigliato!
