Is this cream also meant for burns?

Strataderm is for 1st degree burns or healed/closed burn scars - not open second degree or third degree burns. It helps burns heal faster and not become thick tight tissue as the skin heals. This will reduce the dark color of burn scars or keep them from getting darker. For healing or open 2nd degree burns use Startamed. My dermatologist said to use VERY little and massage it into scars. The massaging helps activate the product and the skin cells. She said if I could see it on my skin I used too much. If you feel it is tacky you used too much. I had very bad 2nd degree burns. It is a year later and I am healed but still using this on the scars to keep them soft and light. Those scars I have exposed to the sun accidentally are noticeably darker. Protect scars from the sun until totally healed. Good luck.

How old can a scar be for strataderm

It is best if used right away- like immediately. My doctor said it can help at any poi along the healing process and even help with a forming scar. It will help minimally afterwards- but in younger patients it can even help later. Good luck. Use Very little - a film not a sauce application.

Is it really going to dry out? I have applied a very very thin layer but never see it to dry, even after half a day

It takes only tiny drop! If you fine it not drying out, you are using way too much.
