Bought this as a truck rod, and I was not disappointed! It's a fast action with glass tip, so it really doesn't feel like a multi-piece rod at all with its solid backbone. I also really loved that I can expand and collapse the rod without having to run the line through the guides and retie every time I use it or put it away, just expand, and you're ready to go fishing. Love it. I didn't get to take it out more than once since this crazy cold front moved through, but I look forward to getting it back out as soon as the weather clears. This is my second Kastking rod, and I'm genuinely impressed.

I have stayed away from telescopic travel rods due to past experiences with poor quality. The Blackhawk 2 M casting rod I just got has changed my mind on that. The workmanship is very good across the board - handle, reel seat is solid, eyelets are high quality and there are lots of them helping with sensitivity. Its a little challenging to quickly get all the eyelets lined up, but once you do it feels solid and much like a one piece rod. the tip on the Medium is very soft, but there is a lot of backbone - I find it a very good shakey head casting rod - with the right reel you can cast light weight lures with it. I like it so much I put it in regular rotation even through I bought for purely travel. Gave 4 starts because I wish the tip was a little more stout, but other than that its very good especially for the cost.

I was very disappointed with this rod. I am an avid fisherman and fish multiple times a week. I have been looking at this rod for a while and I bought one for an upcoming vacation for it's portability. It came well packaged and out of the box it looked and felt nice. I fished with it for 2 days on vacation throwing gulps for flounder and I caught a nice croaker and a small flounder. The next day I got snagged while fishing off of a pier and tried to wiggle it loose and the rod broke into 3 prices. I checked into the warranty and it doesn't seem like it is much of a warranty. You have to pay to 20 to ship it and if they determine it is your fault they will replace it for half the cost. For this rod that is basically purchasing it again. I have other kastking rods and reels and use them every time I fish but I cannot recommend this rod. UPDATE I got the rod replaced by Amazon and didn't fish with it over the winter. I caught a 5 lb carp on it that was foul hooked and it seemed to handle it well. I kept it in my vehicle so I could fish whenever and kept it in the protective sleeve. Today I went fishing and when I was stringing me rod it came apart in two peices. I am considering switching to a different brand because I have had quality issues with several rods this brand and the way the warranty reads it makes it seem like it is your fault.

Picked up this rod to stay in the back of the truck with a few select baits. Here are some first impressions: Packaging - Excellent. Came in a well padded box within a box. The guides were secured with plastic wrap. You can tell the manufacturer does not want the rod to break during shipping. Fit and Finish - Great. Looks like a high end rod. My only nit would be the lack of a removable butt cap. In case the rod gets water on the inside, it will be awkward getting it out. The rod extends easily and is ready to go in a few minutes. Power - As expected. The rod flexes in the right places and stands up to solid casting. It is a smooth performer for the money. Overall - I am very happy with this purchase. Glad to have a collapsible rod in the arsenal!

I paired this rod with a kastking spartacus plus and it works very well. I like the weight and balance of the rod, as well as the length is extends to. Just 1.5 downsides. There is no plug at the bottom of the handle, making it difficult to drain if water gets between the segments. Also, this rod does not compact as small as other telescoping rods, but I can’t fault it because this rod has the extra guide eyelets that other rods don’t have. Also comes with a nice guard to protect the rods in storage.
