Sometimes older tech is better because it is bulletproof. Just try buying a Logitech Harmony One Remote - considered one of the best Universal remotes ever built. I fortunately have one but it's pretty beat up and I tried to buy a new one online. It is 3-4 times the original price. - Same goes for the original Bose On Ear headphones that I paid $100 for in 2008 - extremely well built with lots of silver and metal. Those same headphones go for $350+ now if you are lucky enough to find a pair. All this while a set of comparable Bose headphones in 2018 is made out of cheaper materials such as plastic and lacks the durability of the past models.

I don't think you can. The USB receiver is matched to the mouse. That is so that other mice or devices can't "see" it and get confused. Looks like you need to just buy a new one. Sorry.

Well, that's not exactly a question, but what the heck...The MX Revolution has two wheels... the regular scroll wheel on top, plus a second one on the side for your thumb. It's programmable. I use it for volume up/down, and it's got a "press-to-click" function, too, which I use for muting the audio. WONDERFUL nowadays with so many *%(&^*( ads that come on before the web content you went there for...I'm VERY sorry Logitech discontinued this model. I bought a used one through Amazon and it works pretty well... good enough to keep it on my desk until or unless it dies.

does the mouse work with iplone 5s

Nope. This thing uses a particular USB reciever and has no other method of communication with a target device. I think you might *possibly* get better results looking at one of the newer mice like the MX Master 2-- and even then I don't know it'll pair with an iPhone of any stripe.
