Update December 16, 2025: The company saw my review about problems with the iPhone 16 and they've offered a replacement. I didn't expect this because I thought I just made a mistake and bought the wrong thing. I am very impressed by the excellent service. Thank you, Apexel. Updating to five stars due to the great service. _____________ I got this for my wife when she updated to an iPhone 16. Her previous clip-on macro lens no longer worked so well with the new phone. The Q&A section seems to indicate that the device is compatible with the iPhone 16. We aren't finding that to be the case. The attachment system seems to be very solidly made with good quality plastic and a nice strong spring, but unfortunately the clamps get in the way of some of the phone's buttons and my wife isn't liking that at all. It's probably better with some other iPhone model. Too bad about this. Just the luck of the draw, I guess.

I requested this unit hoping for some improvement over my IPhone 13 Pro's macro mode, and on initial impression feel it's been a mixed success. See one attached photo of my cat's nose. Areas that are good: * Fits over the top of my Unicorn Beetle Pro case * It increases the focal length so that I don't have to worry about being so close to the subject * Because the distance from the object is increased, more light can reach the subject * Details seem a bit crisper. Challenges: * The mount ends up on or very close to the power + volume buttons on the Iphone 13 Pro Max. I triggered some buttons when trying to get the device attached a few times. * The IPhone sometimes struggles to auto-focus and lock onto my subject. I have to fiddle with the iPhone zoom a bit to get it to choose the lens I want. * Attaching and detaching the lens can be a hassle. To store it in the case I must detach the lens and move the placement arm all the way to one side (photo) for everything to fit. The extra steps of setting it up every time mean I'm far less likely to use it than the inbuilt macro mode. Overall, it's OK but I'm not likely to use it often because of the friction involved in adjusting it each use. I rarely use my SLR for the same reason. As an improvement, I'd suggest the manufacturer design the case in such a way that you can store everything in its adjusted configuration so that all you need to do is take it out and attach it to your phone.

Perfect and takes really good pictures up close!

I purchased this to use with my Apple iPhone 14 Pro. I received the lens kit and it appears to be well made, but the one I received is NOT for the 14 Pro! I was traveling, which is why I purchased it, and wasn't able to return it for a refund or exchange.

I purchased to take photos of various critters in my worm bins. I’ve never been able to get any this clear. It did take a few tries to get it to work well, especially since I refused to remove the case. It would be easier to take the case off but I would probably drop my phone into the bin and have a fun time cleaning it off. I tested on some houseplants and was able to confirm they have no bugs at all! So another use i can put it to. Overall I’m super happy with it.

I get better results with iPhone’s regular macro mode. Not worth it. Their microscope lens works well however.

Was looking for a macro lens that gives ~8-10x magnification and gave this a try. Using a Pixel 7, I found the magnification to be a bit over 2x, which was less than what I needed so had to return. From the quick test I found it to be easy to mount and center. It's pretty forgiving in terms of working distance and the ability to focus. Overall I'd recommend it if your looking for this level of magnification.

Great detail and quality at a very good price. I also like the mount. With other lenses (e.g. Sandmarc, Moment) you either need to buy a case to accomodate the lens or use a clip system, that, in my experience, gives a less than optimal mount and inconsistent results. This mount goes on top of your case, and the macro lens sits tightly on top of your phone lens giving it a perfect fit. You can adjust the Apexel lens position sliding it left to right or top to bottom till it’s perfectly aligned with your phone lens. I got this for a friend who has a Samsung but after seeing the results I might get one for myself too.

Zunächst einmal lässt sich das Objektiv einfach anbringen und wieder entfernen, was es zu einer bequemen Option für unterwegs macht. Die Makroaufnahmen, die ich mit diesem Objektiv gemacht habe, sind sehr detailliert. Ich konnte winzige Details in Blumen und Insekten aufnehmen, die mit dem bloßen Auge kaum zu erkennen sind. Die Schärfe des Objektivs ist wirklich beeindruckend und ich war überrascht, wie nah ich an das Motiv herangehen konnte, um diese Details zu erfassen. Das Objektiv hat auch eine schöne leichte Unschärfe, die dazu beiträgt, das Motiv hervorzuheben und den Hintergrund in den Hintergrund zu drängen. Dies verleiht den Makroaufnahmen eine professionelle Note, die ich wirklich zu schätzen weiß. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt des Objektivs ist, dass es eine gute Lichtdurchlässigkeit hat, was bedeutet, dass ich auch bei schwierigen Lichtverhältnissen gut belichtete Aufnahmen machen konnte. Leider kann der Blitz vom Smartphone nicht verwendet werden da er abgedeckt wird. Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden mit dem APEXEL-Makro-Objektiv für Smartphones. Es bietet gute Details und eine professionelle Optik zu einem erschwinglichen Preis. Wenn Sie auf der Suche nach einem Makro-Objektiv für Ihr Smartphone sind, kann ich dieses Objektiv sehr empfehlen.

Took me all of 2 minutes to install, and the quality of these macro pictures are epic - taken on my pixel 6a. Exactly what I wanted. Considering how much a decent macro lense will set you back for a DSLR this thing is a steal and will definitely be seeing lots of use this spring/summer. I'll probably be investing in their other lenses too and hope they fit this frame
