works well - good value for money too
simple, well built & sturdy. I have been running with a DIY solution. This is so much better. a) it's HDMI and runs to higher resolutions b) it's not VGA, which with a Mac-mini under Yosemite is slow... I just plugged it in - it was recognised as "fit-headless" and you can pick whatever normal resolution - appears very happy with 1920.

Fixes steam headless errors! Perfect!
Needed to get my steam/plex server to be headless without steam throwing errors due to no hdmi tv connected. Bought this to try and fix the problem and it works PERFECTLY! Anyone having issues with steam dx errors due to headless mode chuck this in the hdmi port and it's all sorted. Mines set to 1080p and now streams perfectly no errors.

Does the job, but too expensive for what it is.
Works as advertised. Pricepoint is a bit steep for what it does, thought.

No noticeable difference
Plugged this in to my Mac mini and can't tell the difference.

Tiny, neat solution for a headless Mac
I bought this for a Mac mini that I use as a music server attached to my DAC and hifi. It tells the Mac that there's a 1080p widescreen display attached, which makes remote access a much smoother and easier experience. My previous way of achieving this involved hacking a displayport to VGA adaptor by shorting two pins with a resistor (it's a common hack, you can easily find details online), but the fit-headless is half the price of an Apple VGA adaptor and is much, much smaller and neater. It also means that the thunderbolt port is now free to use for data. All-in-all the tiny fit-headless is the perfect solution for anyone wanting a decent remote-desktop experience from a headless Mac.

This thing just works!
I was trying to run a Windows 8 PC without an attached monitor (headless), but ran into issues when accessing it via Remote Desktop software from my iPad (Splashtop app). Due to the lack of an attached monitor, Windows sets a default resolution of 640 x 480 (with no others available to select), which was useless and meant that most dialogue boxes were spanning beyond the edges of the screen - also some apps will not run at this low resolution. Trawling the Internet forums yielded little results, until I happened upon this gem of a device. You simply plug it into the PC HDMI socket and fire up the machine. Remote Desktop into the PC and when you select the screen resolution option, it's listed as 'fit Headless' and offers a range of resolution to set. Remote Desktop solutions normally adjust or have an option to adjust the resolution, but the problem was, that they were none originally for the software to select from! This device comes good on its promises and has solved a very annoying issue for me - buy with confidence!

Use for Steam Link
Works exactly as intended. I am using it to run my PC as a headless setup so I can stream with Steam Link. The graphics card does not stream properly without it being pulgged into a display, which is the function this device fills. If you want to try this too, you also need to install a virtual audio driver.

A useful addition when running a headless Mac.
I am using a headless Mac Mini as a music server and connecting to it with VNC. The problem I was having was that resolution offered was not very great. With this I am now offered 1080p which fills the screen of my laptop, side to side making it much more usable. I hoped it would offer me the full resolution for the laptop (1900x1200) but it doesn't. This minor failing might be to do with the Mac Mini and not the CompuLap fit-Headless. However, this minor "letterbox" aspect, does not pose too much of a problem.
