Why did you pick this product vs others?: work very well, with my KitchenAid mixer, for not being a kitchen aid product. the price is very reasonable, and the ice cream comes out as the recipes describe

Had my mixer for many years and never bought an attachment. The ice cream attachment was actually a very good price. It makes 1.5 to 2 quarts. Easy to assemble. Easy to clean.

UPDATE: I used the ice cream bowl 2 times. First time great! Second time took a little longer to freeze. No big deal. Noticed some blue stuff on the countertop. Honestly thought it was Dawn dish soap. Third time I used it, was with my granddaughter again. Had her sitting on the counter beside the KitchenAid. Put in all the ingredients and started it up. She sat there and watched it while I was cleaning up. When I noticed it wasn’t freezing yet, I decided to give it more time, picked up my granddaughter to go play while it was finishing. Her diaper was wet. On the outside. Weird. Looked at the counter, blue stuff. I immediately took her up to the bath. When I got her out, rash/burn. Called Amazon, window closed, but for me, only this once, partial refund. Whatever. What I am worried about is the freezing solution. The customer service person assured me it would never happen again. How… Made ice cream for the first time with my 18 month old granddaughter. Such a fun thing to do with her. She loved watching it turn and then- the tasting! She kept asking for more. Good memory made. ❤️

This ice cream attachment comes with four items. A freeze bowl, a drive assembly , dasher and an instruction manual. I froze the bowl for 24 hours prior to use. A minimum of 16 hours is suggested. I then chose the Mango Sherbet Ice Cream recipe from the instruction manual they provided. The manual / user guide includes 12 recipes in total. I was able to follow the instructions and make the ice cream but I do wish the instructions were better illustrated, specifically regarding coupling the drive assembly and the dasher.I used this apparatus with a Kitchen-aid bowl lift mixer. I wish the drive assembly could be better secured to the mixer shaft. You are required to slide it over the mixer shaft but it never felt secure. You then raise the bowl to engage the "Dasher" to the drive assembly. This is the part that is immersed in the bowl and actually mixes the cream batter. I am not sure why this needed to be two separate products. In addition, the "cogs" have to be perfectly lined up and bowl raised to establish the connection. As I indicated, the product works and I certainly appreciate being able to transform my mixer into an ice cream maker but it could have been a little easier to use with one attachment. I am not sure what the impact is of washing the freeze bowl, but the manufacturer made sure to warn against doing so. Which is somewhat contradictory as in the same instruction guide, you are instructed to wash in warm water with mild detergent and to never wash it in a dishwasher. It must then be throughly dryed before storing in the freezer. Overall, I am happy with this ice cream maker in spite of my concerns.

Bought this not knowing if it would be worth the money. Takes about 30 minutes to make whatever ice cream you want. Taste awesome and less time they cranking away. Certainly worth the money.
