Epica Fireplace Tongs, 26" Long, Log Grabber

I got these very quickly, and they were packaged nicely. These are great tongs - they collapse up to a smaller size, for VERY convenient storage. I love that! But, they open up to be able to pick up decent sized logs! They are more than long enough to keep your hands and arms safely away from the open flames. Great, since my just 13 year old son wants to start helping with tending to the fire, but he's still a bit skiddish of getting too close to the flames. They were a great value for the price!! A great addition to the tools I'm accumulating for my outdoor firepit!

Once you've used these fire tongs you'd be wondering how you ever got by without them. They are absolutely amazing for campfires, both backyard and camping. Have one that stays in our camper and one at home. Have had a couple of these for 5 years and no issues, holding up great. They make placing and adjusting wood in the fire a breeze. They work with small sticks, embers, and big logs as well.

These are very well made and handy to grab logs. Folds for easy storage.

Hubby and I love to enjoy a fire. We usually just hand toss logs into a fire and use a poker to shift things around. When we planned our first camping trip this year, I thought about bringing a poker on the trip and thought, lets search Amazon and see what they have. I stumbled across this log grabber and it peaked my interest. I though, "Thats boogie. A poker works just fine, what do we need that fancy thing for?" But I bought it anyway. And I am so glad we did! This log grabber worked great for adding logs, moving logs, pulling logs apart and we even used it to cook campfire s'mores and move around our hobo packs across the hot coals. So much control! And the arms are LONG so we never had to worry about singed arm hair, which is a very good thing. Is this a NEED? No. Do I regret this impulse purchase? Also, no. This boogie log grabber/multi function camp tool is a game chager for us and we are so happy we tried it out.

For what they are, these tongs have functioned well for the first three or four full weekends of use. Seem to be well made, sturdy, and operate smoothly. No problem picking and placing logs right where you want them. Had no problem at all with mid to larger size logs or splits, but surprisingly, it does take a bit of practice to get ahold of the smaller stuff. One thing I wish I'd thought of before purchase... The 26" length is sure to work very well for a fireplace, or a raised fire pit. In my opinion, they are a bit too short for an in ground fire pit if you want to avoid too much bending or reaching. This was especially clear to me when using after a full day of splitting, which is probably why I noticed this like I did . It would be nice to keep your hands a bit further from the heat as well. So.... I'll keep a pair of hearth gloves handy and see how long these last.

I waited about a year to see how these would hold up before reviewing them, as I didn't expect the joints to hold up very well. After over a year of being kept outside in the sun, heat, rain, and cold I was quite surprised with the durability of these tongs. Rust has only occurred at the joints (the rivets are what got rusty), and that has not affected functionality at all. Only complaint is the handles, they need more grip and can hurt a little when lifting heavier logs, but that's not much of a complaint to have. Jaws open very wide, and can grip logs surprisingly well for the shape that they are. I will most likely buy another pair of these when my current pair finally give out, probably in another year or two, much longer than any other fireplace tongs that I have come across, especially with a design like this.

Hard to complain for the price I guess. These only lasted about 12 months before they were loose and failed to do simple tasks, we didn't even use them that much. The first 6 months were great, they do work good. But they are cheap, so be prepared to replace them relatively quickly.
