I may not add daily as it suggested but I had an issue that wiped all my coralline algae out. I saw nothing but a tiny spec of coralline left. I started adding this product daily for a few days and it started to bounce back. It is now all over the tank again. I probably remember to add it only a couple times every week and things are staying healthy. Review: It really does work!!! - I ordered this product not really expecting much, when I received it, dumped 2 capfuls as the instructions said and the next day I went on a trip to Florida, when I came back, 5 days later the whole piece of rock was a blueish, pinkish and purplish color I was so amazed that I wrote a review about this amazing product!!!!! ## Features - accelerates desirable pink and purple coralline algae growth - won't encourage growth of nuisance algae - raises calcium, iodine and other trace elements essential in reef aquariums - Age range description: All Ages ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 310 Reviews | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Carib Sea - **Liquid Volume:** 8 Fluid Ounces - **Item Weight:** 8 Ounces - **Item Form:** Liquid - **Target Species:** Fish ## Images ![Purple Up Algae Accelerator, 8-Ounce - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61UrGltZyfL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Will this help my luffy http://www.amazon.com/dp/b00mhkfedo grow well?** A: no **Q: Does this have an expiration date?** A: Just checked the bottle and I didn't see any. **Q: does this work if i dont have any corraline algae yet?** A: I did not have any obvious coraline algae and used it once. I had a huge mess as the green algae bloomed everywhere. I changed the water and cleaned the filter adjusted the lighting timing and the next morning the algae bloomed in an overabundance. It took 3 water changes and 4 filter cleanings to get it under control. I threw it away but your experience may be different. **Q: Will this harm invertebrates?** A: Nope, not at all. Just check your levels (you should do this anyway). Been using this stuff for years! Good for any hard corals and coco worms too. Makes everything nice n pink n purpley! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for coraline algae growth *by I***W on June 6, 2014* This product works just as advertised. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It really does work!!! *by J***E on April 13, 2018* I ordered this product not really expecting much, when I received it, dumped 2 capfuls as the instructions said and the next day I went on a trip to Florida, when I came back, 5 days later the whole piece of rock was a blueish, pinkish and purplish color I was so amazed that I wrote a review about this amazing product!!!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's purple Up what can I say *by S***T on November 10, 2020* The stuff is basically calcium, but I've always used it when setting up tanks and IMO it does what it's supposed to do. I have spots of purple and pink coralline algae on new base rock I added after 5 weeks. Of course I put a couple pieces of live rock in to seed the tank and the frags I put in had their plugs covered. Purple Up just makes sure the calcium (not sure if it has magnesium or not) levels are correct. Do you need it? No. Is it cheaper than changing water and dosing calcium and magnesium when setting up a new system? Yes. ## Frequently Bought Together - CaribSea Purple Up Algae Accelerator, 8-Ounce - Coralline Algae in a Bottle + Nitrifying Bacteria for Saltwater Aquariums, Pink Fusion Strain - Coralline Algae in a Bottle, Purple Helix Plus Version, Live Spores + Nitrifying Bacteria --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.at/products/10104495-purple-up-algae-accelerator-8-ounce](https://www.desertcart.at/products/10104495-purple-up-algae-accelerator-8-ounce) --- *Product available on Desertcart Austria* *Store origin: AT* *Last updated: 2026-10-13*
