I am usually drawn to romance novels, but when I read the synopsis I just had to have it. I thought it would be interesting, and I was right. This is actually a collections of short stories based on famous murders. Each was insightful and even fasinating. I am not sure how I feel about being fasinated by murder, but I think it was more his writing style than the murders their self. This book was a quick read. I found myself flipping the pages, eager to see what was next. It seemed each story was more integuining then the one before. It was not weighted down with fact after fact. He did tell the facts, but it was written in a way that the average reader will not get bored. I am going to rate this 5 stars. Considering the type of book this is, I thought it was written perfectly. Would I recomend it? Yes Especially if you enjoy The History Channel, Discovery, or Biography's crime and punishment shows. It is not. It is a series of surface-level vignettes of people who not only didn't get away with it, they were often caught quickly and/or confessed. There's no mystery about who-done-it, no dedicated investigators who refuse to give up, just a bunch of everyday brutal murders.
