There are times when I want a cup of coffee but don't need to brew an entire pot. This Melitta 1-Cup Pour-Over Brew Cone gives me a simple way to make a single serving without pulling out another appliance or wasting coffee. The design couldn't be much easier. I place the cone over my mug, add the appropriate filter and ground coffee, then slowly pour hot water over the grounds. There are no buttons, cords, pods, or complicated settings to deal with. I also like having more control over the brewing process. I can adjust the amount of coffee, grind, and water to get the strength where I want it rather than accepting whatever a single-serve machine decides to give me. The compact size is another big advantage. It takes up very little cabinet space and would also be easy to pack for travel, camping, or anywhere I have access to hot water but not necessarily a coffee maker. There is a little more hands-on effort involved than pressing a button on a pod machine, and getting consistent results takes some attention to the amount and speed of the water you're pouring.
