It was 30 years ago that i began to use FIMO probably and it is still the best there is. That i know of lol. I like the cheaper ones for fun and for so many colors but there is a definite difference and not all polymers are the same. Like if you arent used to FIMO brand and you work with sculpey then you might have a hard time with the fact that it is much harder and it takes some work to get it workable. It is less prone to breakage in the finished piece and anyone who has a lot of experience in polymer clay really respects that and the effects are unbeatable. If you are getting clay for kids i highly recommend letting them practice with ther cheaper kits that come in alot of colors and the clay is soft. Its hard to get kids to understand that a little of this clay goes a long way and you have to just work around with it. Then later on introduce them to the $4 bars of FIMO. There is a strong difference in quality but one you can only appreciate with lots of use. I personaly like FIMO the best though sculpey is a close alternative. I love the different affects they offer as well. This is for sure fun for kids though and the creativity is endless for what they can do with it.
