I mostly use the chainsaw discs for bulk removal. I used this disc on dry live oak, and it cut it like butter very effective tool. It doesn't grab as aggressively as the chainsaw disc but cuts just as fast. You will need to keep the guard on your grinder and wear face protection as it will throw shards of wood. But, I'll say this: It goes through wood like a Bat out of Hell. So, be very careful when you fire this baby up. Hold your tool FIRMLY with both hands, because it can run away from you if you allow it to 'dig in' and it can just as easily run into you. As you explore the various angles of attack, do so carefully, like with a feather, because it can dig in and run away from you. I bought this blade to take a tree stump that I'd previously cut close to the ground, down enough that a lawnmower could pass over without hitting the stump. And I was impressed with how well it did that, once I figured out the best way to apply the blade--via my 4" Ridgid Angle Grinder--to the work, which, in my case, was to tilt my grinder at about a 45Β° angle, in such a way that the top side of the blade SLIGHTLY contacted the stump, and skim across the wood, drawing the grinder toward me, in arcs or straight lines. Once I discovered how to not let the blade 'dig in' and 'take off' on you, the job went very well and that stubborn, gnarly old stump proved to be no match for this blade. It's a great tool, but there is a 'learning curve', so use some scrap wood to 'get to know' how it works, and 'easy does it'. **Q: Can this cut Hardie and Durock cement backer boards?** A: I have only used this product on wood, but since it has carbide teeth it will cut just about anything short of solid rock. Given the more abrasive material in the concrete backer boards, I would also assume it would not last as long. Good luck. **Q: Looking at this to cut 1/4" channels in 1/4" thick Aluminium. Anyone have any experience with this blade cutting Aluminium with a hand grinder?** A: Aluminum? I wouldn't use this type of carving disc for metals. I would cut & grind the channel out with a 4.5" x 1/8" thick cut-off wheel on an angle grinder. OR a 6" cut-off blade on a hand saw or radial arm saw. (or best yet, a milling machine) Then you would get a perfect channel. **Q: Can this be used to cut tree roots in the ground?** A: I've used this blade to cut wood and it works great. It should be able to cut into tree roots with no problems. Good Luck. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Eats wood and flesh *by J***N on December 22, 2023* This is a monster and excellent addition for your angle grinder ONLY if you are extremely careful!!!! This can be a very dangerous blade! I've been wood working and using my grinder, chainsaw, axe, table saw, skil saw, ect... now for 20+ years without incident and this thing gave me 4 stitches the same day it came in the mail. I had to get into a tight spot in a wall where the previous owner placed plywood instead of sheetrock. Perfect tool for the job, but there was a hidden nail from the other side. I was very slow, careful, and precise with my cut, but when it hit the nail, it felt like the grinder was hit with a sledge hammer. It flew out of my hands, ripped through the electrical wiring, ripped my thick leather gloves and gave me a deep lasting scar all within a second while the grinder was winding down. This is no joke friends. It works where others can't, but you must use face and hand protection.
