The shoe is supportive of everything BUT the arch (which is what i wanted for lifting). I can get my foot feeling flat on the floor, can push down in my heals against the floor and don't feel like my shoe is working against me to push up on my heel. I have a tendency to slide my right foot toward the right pinky toe and while this does not correct for that it also does not exacerbate it by encouraging it. I do not wear orthotics with this shoe. If you have trouble reaching depth or keeping the back somewhat upright, you would probably benefit from a traditional weightlifting shoe with a solid raised heel. **Q: Will these work for squatting movements as well as deadlifting?. As for comfort, as much as one could expect for a shoe with no cushion, designed to NOT compress, almost like barefoot, but with way better support. They are a tad narrow, but my feet are VERY wide. My squats and deadlifts are more stable and my knees dont feel the strain as much as they did with regular tennis shoes.
