I have been struggling with trigger thumb for 3 months after an injury, without hope of medical attention during the pandemic. I know that these injuries can take months to heal and require immobilisation. For a while I had been using a strap on splint that went round my wrist and up the thumb. It was good, but bulky, and restricted what I could do. Also I couldn’t get it wet or dirty, or wash my hands frequently as we are encouraged to do during the pandemic. I read that the oval-8 supports are what the medical profession uses, but they are expensive and I had no idea what size I would need, so this full set of a similar product looked great value. It was super useful having all the sizes to experiment with. Especially as for the first couple of days I found I needed 2 or 3 together to form a full frame round my thumb, as it was still clicking with just one. After that, I have found just the size 10 on its own is all I need (I have big thumbs for a girl!). It’s important to get the right fit for optimal use from this product. When you do, it may feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable for the first 10 minutes, but after that you barely know you’re wearing it. I can use my thumb almost normally, even write with the splint on, and miraculously I have no pain or clicking, and my thumb feels supported. Also I can wash my hands, and do dirty jobs such as caring for my horse and pets, with the support on, knowing it’s easy to clean. I feel I can wear this for as long as it takes for my thumb to heal without inconvenience. At night I still use the wrist/thumb splint to vary the pressure points. Great to have a full set of sizes for any future eventualities. Review: Good product - If you've looked at ring splints elsewhere, you know these are really good value for money- you get a entire set of one of each size splint, so there will be a bunch you don't need, but again I still feel that price wise you're not paying for that so it's fine! I'd stick to using them for writing/ drawing etc as I wore them to work (I hurt my fingers pushing buttons and stuff) but I lost most of them by the end of the night! The beauty of this product is the full set of sizes at a good price, ordering on line can cause upset and extra cost if you get it wrong. I’ve discovered that the size of my thumb alters during the day so two are needed. Now my other thumb is developing the same problem so this set covers all bases. They are ingenious little splints that work very well at immobilising any of your digits, I was using a bit of an ice lolly stick strapped on with micropore tape, worked but inconvenient for hand washing or if you need to slip it off for any reason i.e. doing up buttons etc. These you can easily slip on and off when required. To try to reduce the swelling the splint really needs to be left on at night to continue immobilisation, allowing the tendon to hopefully heal, these splints are quite comfortable but at night I stick a small piece of material strapping tape under the plastic to give a little padding. These splints are working well for me, giving instant pain relief.
