They do not really make these to be repairable, although you can if you are really really extra careful. For me, I snapped the case while carefully trying to take apart. I like this calculator so much, it was just easy and economical to buy a new one, and I really like this model. It does everything I want it to, very easy to use, and packs nicely in my briefcase. The size is just right - not too small, and not too large. The solar is working but at night there is no solar so it uses the battery. I was not able to open one of these to replace the battery but it lasted maybe 10 years. This is a good product. **Q: Does this have a "kickstand" to elevate the display?** A: Yes. It is about a 1/2" when in place. **Q: How do you figure from cost to markdown** A: It is not clear what type of calculation you are attempting. Some financial calculations are described in the manual.
