Why is this happening?** A: The same thing happens to me. The charge is exhausted after a short time; I haven't been able to use it for longer than 12 minutes at a time. My strategy is to keep both units plugged in always when not in use so they are completely charged when I want to use them. I use one mic for about 10 minutes, then return it to the charger and switch to the other one. This is not a long-term satisfactory solution. There's one connector that is for DSLRs etc and one for another type of input.
