Review: Amazing beginner scope! - This scope is sturdy, comes with a short tripod, and isn’t heavy which makes it perfect for hiking and sight seeing. It also doesn’t take long to learn how to use the scope and adjust the lens. In fact, it only took a couple of minutes to get set-up from unboxing. This scope only has two knobs - one for focus and another for zoom, so it is very easy to use. I also love that the box came with a case to put away and carry the scope. For the price, I certainly think this item beats my expectations and is a perfect buy for the beginner or novice explorer, such as myself.. As someone living in a big city, this is a perfect way to get better views up close of the bright city lights, building architecture, and boats on the bay. I can’t wait to bring it with me on the mountains! ***I don’t believe this scope is meant for stargazing so just beware if that is what you are looking for. Photos: I can see the NYC skyline up close from my 7+ mile away north-facing apartment in Brooklyn! The views are even better on a clear night! Second photo is the new JPMorgan Chase headquarters lit up in LED on New Years… all from about 8 miles away! How cool. 😎
Review: If you're familiar with optics.. - You already know what to expect at this price range, but I was pleasantly surprised! I haven't had any issues with blue outline refraction or anything else out of the ordinary. No seriously noticeable fishbowl effect when panning side to side. It does work best at less than full 60x zoom. I can see .17HMR hits at 100yds fine on cardboard targets. It's a little less than perfect, but with a good tripod, and a minute to look carefully, I can see .22-250 hits at 200yds.. At 300yds, I'd be able to see hits on steel, but most likely not .22 hits on cardboard. Just messing around, I can count the bolts on the highest tier of a cellular tower from 1/4 mile. but I can't read grave stones from the same distance. It's a fair optic for the money, but it's also got that wide open, no optic coating, clear glass, kinda cheap view. Trying to focus through tree limbs, there's quite a bit of distortion, and the eye relief is pretty short. The rotating mount sleeve is a nice feature, the sunshade is a little short, but it's effective until the sun gets pretty low. It gets dark, and the image quality suffers after 40x, but I've been turning it up to 60x, and backing it down until I get a satisfactory view. In good light, a person new to scopes in this range should be really happy with it, as long as they don't expect to see the color of a bird's eyes at 500yds and full zoom. The focus knob is just right, not stiff, not too loose. It actually does a nice job. For a budget optic, I rate it a 5/5 for doing what a budget scope does, rather well.

**Q: Why is this priced so low, compared to other Athlon spotting scopes with same magnification levels?**
A: It is priced lower because it uses lower quality glass. If you need to use this scope I. Lowlight settings it will perform much worse compared to the more expensive models. This scope has poor light transmission. It also gets grainy at High magnification.

**Q: what is the 600 + yard detail, and how would it compare to a vortex diamondback?**
A: I’ve looked through both and it was hard to tell a difference. Vortex was a little smaller

**Q: Does this include a tripod and soft case?**
A: Yes

**Q: Does the eye piece rotate?**
A: The eye piece does not rotate, you can rotate the whole scope, it has a ring around the body where it attaches on the tripod with a lock down screw.
Still for the money I have been very pleased with it. My shooting buddy purchased a high dollar scope and this one holds it's own against it.
I would buy another if needed !

You already know what to expect at this price range, but I was pleasantly surprised! I haven't had any issues with blue outline refraction or anything else out of the ordinary. No seriously noticeable fishbowl effect when panning side to side. It does work best at less than full 60x zoom. I can see .17HMR hits at 100yds fine on cardboard targets. I’ve had this for a couple of years now. I get good clarity and field of view. It’s been dropped and hit with brass. I’ve used personally and professionally. It’s still clear as day. The only criticism I have is that it doesn’t have any ranging marks on the radical. However it’s a cheap optic, but definitely worth the money.
