Rather than give you a review on the specs, and what the actual magnification's are, and all that kind of stuff, I thought a short video of what this thing can do was the best option. This short video was done by holding the UM05 Microscope by hand. I left it in autofocus the entire time, and only used the zoom wheel to change from far zoom to close zoom. The room lighting was very, very low, and I used the built in LED's as the light source, which should be the worse case circumstance, and it does even better under good ambient light. I tested it free-hand, as that will be the worse case for the auto focus as well. Using it mounted on the included stand, it focuses up right away, with almost no hunting around, and the video is even clearer yet. This video was straight from the software included with the UM05 Microscope, but I did have to compress it before uploading onto Amazon, because they only allow video's under 100 MB. The original video was a little better. I had the software set to capture the video at 1280 x 1024 at 15fps. There are several different settings you may choose in software.This video shows some details on a $20 bill and the hairs on my arm, I figure that's something everyone knows about, so you can judge if this Microscope will do the job for your needs.I personally love this USB Microscope, and it will do the job I intended it for just perfect. I work in electronics, and have to read numbers and letters on small parts all the time. I will be plugging this into my Surface Pro 2 computer when I'm on site working and need to get a close up of something. Since it has it's own light, I can stick it into tight spots on the machines and get a part number or assy number off of a component or part, without having to disassemble anything or actually having to get my face right up to the part.... this little thing will save me lots of troubles I've had in the past seeing small print on electronic parts ### ⭐⭐ Definately not worth the money. Lighting adjustment was also welcome at higher magnification. I do wish that depth of field was better for some of the things I was working with.
