Fernandel never failed to amuse and could on occasion be Chaplinesque, almost sublime in his pathos. While this film does not reach for sublimity, it is totally entertaining as far as it does go; and so I have rated it at four stars.  Please, can you bring us his Don Camillo at an affordable price! Fernandel's humour is sly and visually oriented; it transcends the barriers of spoken language and leaves us with insights into ourselves that make us more tolerant of the foibles of our neighbours.  Can we have more, please?

Malgré le fait que cet article ne bénéficiait pas du programme Prime, je l'ai reçu rapidement. Je suis agréablement surpris de la qualité d'images et du son. Je suis heureux d'ajouter cette rareté à ma collection. Il y a d'autres films du genre de disponible, malheureusement, le prix est prohibitif dans la plupart des cas. Pour ce film c'est la note parfaite.
