However the quality is much higher than what I have seen with clones. **Q: Is the spiral portion plasttic as well?** A: The spiral is metal. **Q: Is is possible to repair the spiral part of the cork screw when it breaks, as mine has?** A: I don’t see how it could be repaired. The spiral motion is such a critical part of the opening process. I don’t think a repair would hold **Q: How is it used** A: It is used like any other corkscrew. First, cut off the foil top of the wine bottle. Second, position the black plastic on either side of the bottle neck, so the notch about an inch from the bottom rests comfortably on the lip of the bottle. Third, begin the process of screwing the corkscrew into the cork. You should see the cork lifting up from the bottle neck. It also seems to be more gentle and less likely to crack a delicate cork. I was surprised at how low quality it feels considering it’s Le Cruset - brittle plastic that honestly feels like it will break at the slightest touch, BUT has held up ok for several months with regular use. I do anticipate it just snapping one day though.
