It holds both easily, along with a stack of documents. This replaced my CaseLogic leather laptop case that I bought circa 1995, and which finally broke after 30 years of use. CaseLogic no longer makes such a case, so I looked at other brands.This Samsonite is slimmer and more elegant than the CaselLogic it is replacing, and as I am trying to be more organized and keeping more documents "electronic only", it fits the bill.It also has a backstrap for sliding onto rolling luggage, something the old CaseLogic case did not have. This is helpful when I'm going to court with my roll-around documents suitcase.If I have any reservations, I wish there were more dividers in the main portion.
