Initially, I tried the "let a hose run slowly for 15 minutes" approach for watering the trees. That was time-consuming and ineffective. I bought this system and I've been very happy with it. For my two new Heritage River Birch trees, they do well following the provided instructions of two five gallon waterings once a week. For my Marmo Maple, it seems to need four buckets a week to avoid seeing wilting while it tries to get rooted.The soil is clay where we live but the buckets empty within several minutes. I also water a new 5' Serviceberry bush and Orchid Tree using this system, but with half filled buckets.
