I thought the same when I first wore it. But then after a few days one of the straps came out of the back and I had to thread it through the back pocket that holds it again. I couldn't fathom how to do it or where the velcro attached.Then I came back here and looked at the pics and saw it was supposed to go ALL the way through the back pocket - in the top and out the diagonal bottom. That's when I realized the back straps are supposed to be pulled around from the bottom to the front and attached to each other. Look at the third pic here - the one with the man wearing the brace. Over the large waist straps you can see the thin arm straps pulled over and attached to each other. When you do this, your shoulders are pulled WAY BACK. She has a neck problem which is helped by 'posture control' (keeping the shoulders back). She also has a lower back problem, for which has has previously worn a support belt when she is bending over doing things like gardening, cleaning, etc. This product helps both areas at once so it has been a very good purchase for her. The biggest plus is that the straps which hold the shoulders back do not cut in under the arms like so many other posture braces do, so she is able to wear it for hours.
