The original snare head has the coating rubbing off (a Remo Head from PDP was OEM). After researching on line for a replacement, I stumbled upon this Remo Control Sound snare batter head. Ordered it based on the Amazon reviews and feedback. Very glad I did. This head Sound great for this drum. It give off that nice "Crackle" for a popcorn Snare (10 X 6.5). Better than the stock head which did not have the control Sound feature of the Dot in the Middle. And this head is made in the USA, the OEM Remo head was made in China.
