Material is solid aluminum and makes it so much easier to switch from landscape to portrait orientation in the field. I’m very pleased with my purchase. The LCD doesn’t fully open with the side bracket (portrait) on but you can switch the LCD flat or at an angle which is how I use it. The other more expensive brands do the same thing so I’m not missing out on anything.
