It is combined with an aggressive adhesive formulated for high bond strength. Tear-Aid expands absorbing force on impact and always returns to original shape and size. This flexibility allows the patch to conform to irregular surfaces without restricting the movement of the repaired material. The TEAR-AID Type B vinyl repair patch sticks to - Vinyl and Vinyl-coated material ONLY. Vinyl has oils that are absorbed by most adhesives which causes the adhesive to turn gooey, gummy, and ultimately lose bond. When the area is cleaned it is ready to have the patch material applied. Did this on both sides of the holes in the pool cover and it seems to have adhered firmly. Test will come next Spring to determine if the patches have held up over the winter. It is now next Spring and most of the patches have held very well, a few have "buckled", and one or two have loose edges. Sure, it may have been poor attachment from the start, but it didn't seem that way last Spring when all patches were applied. Have ordered more material and will try again (plus one new hole).
