Arch does not feel obtrusive for me and i have a medium height arch. Much better feel than a pair of footactive soles i have that feel too high in the arch (or the arch is too far forward).Sole is not very soft compared to others i've had like the Dr. Scholls.... but the cupped heel is supposed to allow your natural heel padding be more effective. Arch support is quite stiff so i expect it will hold its shape for some time.
