It does not say this anywhere in the description or on the box. I only found it in the Q&A section when I came to write this review (after burning my thumb and forefinger). I had it in the microwave for 50 seconds and it blistered my fingers. Thank goodness I didn’t have the kids make their own hot chocolate. Another reviewer said the ears burned her face. I'm an idiot with a first degree burn on my right hand, but there's really NO REASON this could not have been made microwavable. It's a mug for goodness sake. I don't feel too comfortable gifting it now. I have another mug with a gold handle and embellishments on it and those are microwavable.
