Review: If you are thinking about it..get it..you will not regret. - I couldn’t be happier with the Quantum stylist 9960. The stitch quality is amazing! I love the double needle function. It works so smoothly! Also, I love the fact that you can move the needle up to 25 positions which makes edge stitching a breeze. I don’t care what others say, this machine is extremely quiet and runs so smooth. I have made many projects already with it and just keep bragging about all the features. Mostly, I did not have a cutter before while you can’t use it with the double needle function, when you sew in regular mode, you won’t have to deal with long threads dangling from your fabric or seam. It cuts real close to the seam. Love the needle threader too. While a lot of people find it difficult to use…..it’s not that bad….just watch a few videos and once you get it you will never go back to manually threading your machine. I used to hate trying to thread the needle and sometimes it would de-motivate me from continuing to sew. It is quite the value and comes with so many extras for the price. It’s worth it. It’s definitely comparable to those real high priced machine, but at a fraction of the cost. Also, if the computerized machine scares you…..this one is very user friendly right off the bat.
Review: Working flawlessly since 2019 ... - I LOVE this machine so much! I bought it in 2019, and it has been working beautifully, with zero issues, ever since. Threading is easy, and I love all the features. I have not used the knee-pedal function, so I can't speak to that. I have used a lot of the decorative stitches, and I love how easy it is to switch between stitches, changing length, width, etc. I also love how well it handles thick layers of fabrics. Last year I discovered and fell in love with rag quilts. I made a quilt that is three layers of flannel, so in some scenarios, I was sewing seams that were eight layers of flannel with all the folding, and with the aid of a walking foot, it handled that with a breeze - not a single skipped stitch. I've never, ever had any issues with skipped stitches, broken needles, broken threads, or stitches bunching up. I also find it quieter than previous machines. I do have it on a pad, so that probably helps some. I also appreciate that there are numerous excellent and easy-to-follow YouTube tutorials that I have referred to over and over again to refresh myself on how to do something or figure out the best foot to use for a project, or even figure out what some of the mystery feet and other accessories are for. I also learned a valuable tip about the two different places for thread, depending on what type of spool it is (e.g., vertical spool for traditional spools and horizontal spool for threads that have that zig-zaggy threaded look, like serger cones). My only wish for this machine is that it had a bigger throat plate. Now that I've fallen in love with rag quilts, I've had scenarios where the (standard) smaller throat plate is an obstacle. For that reason, I bought another machine with a bigger throat plate, designed for quilters, and I'll be passing the Quantum Stylist machine on to another family member, who is thrilled. I am confident it will give them many years of joy as they fall in love with it too. This machine is a true workhorse, and I recommend it for any sewing enthusiasts (unless you are a quilter and need a bigger throat space)!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How well does the machine handle heavier fabrics (canvas, upholstery fabric, etc.) for home decor projects?**
A: I have had great results with the appropriate needle. This machine has been really good to me. I used a Jean needle to make a jelly roll rug and it turned out well. It was nice and flat, no waves. In 4 years, I have only broken one needle. I always do research and go slow when trying heavier fabrics.

**Q: I am fairly new at sewing and want to buy the best machine that will not be too complicated to use. Could this be the machine I am looking for. Reading very bad reviews. Please help**
A: If you have the time and patience to READ and try everything out one at a time, yes you will find this a very good investment. It cuts the thread when you are finished, it will thread the machine and the LED screen tells you when the needle is unthreaded and many other features. It has many (600) built in stitches and many different styles of buttonholes. I have been sewing for 60+ years and I love it, but then many of the features are not new to me. That is why I say time to read and patience to try all the different feet and stitches. If you just want to sit down and sew, this is not the machine for you.

**Q: Does this machine include a seam finisher in it's features? Maybe similiar to serging?**
A: Th 9960 has several stitces that sew a seam and overcast the edge at the same time. To complete the look of a serged seam you would need to attach the side-cutter. This attacment is not part o the standard accessories however and would need to be purchased separately.

**Q: What is the size of the throat for quilting?**
A: The latest answer from yesterday by "susan0624" is right on and I just finished a queen-sized quilt (108 x 108); it wouldn't have worked to do free motion with this size and all rolled up in the throat, but I used one of the fancy stitches along the seams and it worked out great; also, I think I pushed it to the limits with doing a queen-sized quilt on it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An excellent excellent machine.
*by R***R on April 24, 2019*

I had bought this machine about 2 months ago now. and I absolutely love love love it. Runs quiet, and absolute perfect stitches every time. Its very nice to be able to go to your machine, turn it on push a button and sew til your hearts content. Singer, you knocked it out of the ball park with this machine. Love all the 600 stitches, all the things that you can change on the stitches to make whatever you are sewing come out so perfect. From elongation to mirror imaging. Plus love love love the thread cutter in this machine. sure cuts down on wasted thread. Easy needle threader as well. Plus plus plus... also love the automatic reverse sew as well. No more ooops I forgot to back stitch to lock the seams. Singer I think you had nailed everything into this machine that people could ever want. Very easy to learn to operate this machine. Everything has a learning curve to it. But for the most part I found it to be very easy. I think and feel that some people that have given bad remarks on this machine was probably owner errors. Either didn't have machine threaded right, for the thread does have to go through the proper channels for it to sew perfect seams. Others may have fooled around with the tensions and things and did not put it back to the correct settings. Or turn machine off then on again to reset it back. Or did not use the correct foot that it told you to use. For it tells you what foot to use with all the stitches on this machine. Which is a big plus if you are new to sewing. I personally have been sewing quite a few years now and love the hobby. I've made everything from clothing to quilts to you name it. I have had Singer machines most of my life. I did have 1 brother machine that someone gave me. That machine didn't last me even a year. I will say I will never ever buy a Brother machine, for they just do not hold up like these Singers will. I also have a Singer CE 200 embroidery machine that is really close to 20 years old now and that machine is still pumping out the embroidery for me like crazy. I bought this machine for the brother machine was way too costly to fix so I bought me another singer machine cuz I know these machines will last a very long time if you keep the machine cleaned out and I always when cleaning it I oil under the bobbin case in the hole that's there. Easy easy takes only about 5 to 10 minutes to clean it out oil and back to sewing. I take my machines in about once a year or so for a tuneup and ready to go again for a year or so. I have never had anything major go wrong with any of my Singer sewing machines. And I can tell you for a fact that I have put my machines through plenty of vigorous tests by sewing through very thick seams, several layers of fabric at one time, and I embroider on my CE 200 machine weekly. so with that said as you can tell I seriously and strongly recommend the Singer machines from the beginners to the most advanced sewers out there. You can't go wrong and these people stand behind their machines. Thank you for all your time. I sincerely hope that this review has helped in some way to put your mind at ease and to purchase a Singer machine. You'll be happy you did.
