First I had to answer a slew of questions establishing that I am a teacher (which I am) which caught me off guard then I realize that the initial purchase for this program is $299.00 and $99.00 was the subscription fee for the 2nd year. But why wasn't it made more clear on the desertcart listing. What a cheap way to collect a few bucks without providing and services. I ended up purchasing Apple's Logic Pro X. I understand that Avid has been reducing it's staff having fired whole departments that were programing Pro Tools. Cheap laptops wont run it very well at all. i7 reccomended maybe an i5. Or a mac that can hit at least 3.7ghz or your not gonna have a fun time. **Q: Can i buy the academic version of pro tools 12 bundled with an interface (mbox pro)?** A: The mBox Pro was discontinued by Avid a while back. Fortunately, you can now use any audio interface with Pro Tools 12. The new version does not work well with older M-Audio interfaces. You are forced to almost upgrade half the studio and plugins to become compatible.
