This device is easy to use, and can be a lifesaver in lightning prone areas, especially outdoors and in open areas, like golf courses. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ K *by A***R on October 26, 2024* Ok ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cost Effective Lightning Detector *by C***S on March 30, 2012* We thought that because the LD7 Lightning Detector was of low cost that it would also be less effective than the more costly units, but we found the General Tools LD7 Detector to be just as effective at detecting near and far lightning strikes as the more costly units.At under $100 a person can not beat the cost of this unit that when right out of the box it started to warn of immediate nearby lightning strikes. We work with athletic teams, and we found the LD7 gives us sufficient warning of incoming lightning so that we can clear the field.
