## Description

Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1975 album from the Scottish rockers including bonus tracks. The album, and the band itself, gained inspiration from their spiritual homeland: America. It's easy to admire Rampant's casually expert take on the vintage Americana which influenced Nazareth. Songs such as 'Silver Dollar Forger' and 'Glad When You're Gone' contain copious tributes to the USA, which had been Nazareth's most lucrative market since the release of the 'This Flight Tonight' single the previous year. Features eight bonus tracks including seven BBC live recordings. Salvo. 2010.

    Nazareth..."Rampant"...1974 & 2010 SALVO Remastered CD

*by K***" on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 22, 2013*

I originally bought Nazareth's 1974's "Rampant" album, in the Fall of 1977. Just recently, I ordered the 2010 SALVO Remastered CD. I would like to take the time to review each song, incl., on this album:1. "Silver Dollar Forger" (Parts 1 & 2)...This is a decent song that I like a lot.2. "Glad When You're Gone"...I have always liked this song, quite well. I also enjoy the backing vocals on this song. This seems rather CHEERFUL & funny, for being a "Give them the Heave Ho.....Or a Good Riddance", type of song.3. "Loved & Lost"...This song has always been one of my TOP favorites on this album. It is very HAUNTING, but it ISN'T one of the most uplifting songs @ all. But it really gets right to the point. This ballad could remind me of a lot of Bad Company's one song "Ready For Love", musically, but the ONLY difference is that "Ready For Love" has more of a HAPPIER meaning, as compared to "LOVED & LOST", which is extremely WISTFUL. Even "Glad When You're Gone" is ALSO a sharp contrast (about face) to "Loved & Lost", in it's meaning.4. "Shanghai'd In Shanghai"...When I first heard this song, in the Fall of 1977, it was incl., on Nazareth's "Hot Tracks" hits compilation. I immediately fell in love w/ THIS song, which prompted me to buy the 1974 "Rampant" album. It is the album's shortest song & I think this song is just plain GREAT, in MY opinion. This also has the SAME backing vocals as in "Glad When You're Gone".5. "Jet Lag"...This is the albums LONGEST song. It is pretty good, but it's not a favorite of mine.6. "Light My Way"...I have always loved this song as an EQUAL to "Loved & Lost". I think this is quite HAUNTING & just plain EXCELLENT, in my own opinion.7. "Sunshine"...This is the another slower song, which I always enjoyed a lot, too. It's pretty good.8A. "Shapes Of Things"...This song always seemed so FAMILIAR to me, but I just couldn't pinpoint why. Then it finally dawned on me that it was ORIGINALLY performed by The Yardbirds, from the MID Sixties, (1966) to be exact. I have always LOVED the orig., but ESP. Nazareth's remake of this song. This is ANOTHER of my TOP favorites.8B. "Space Safari"...This is a SPACEY instrumental, which is about a MINUTE or SO long. I think that this song is pretty weird, BUT good.9. "Down"...They call this song, the B-side to "Love Hurts". I COULD have SWORN that "Hair Of The Dog", was on the FLIP SIDE to my 45 RPM single of "Love Hurts" (1975). This song "DOWN" seems to be pretty good. It also reminds me of "Jet Lag", somewhat, in it's melody.BONUS TRACKS...BBC Live In Concert Recordings from May 17, 1973...(includes 7 songs...Live Versions)This album is very good & it's most definitely recommended.

    Come on, LIGHT MY WAY!!!!

*by J***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 20, 2015*

Such an underrated album; the last gasp before the big breakthrough of '75, this is a punishing collection of tunes from a band that was on a complete tear at the time. In early 1973, recently departed from Deep Purple, Roger Glover hooked up with this up-and-coming band and gave them some much needed help in the studio by helping to Produce what would be three great albums; "Razamanaz", "Loud N Proud" and this. It's a shame that they ended their association with him after such a short but wildly creative time. I feel that they went on to continue to make great music, but the consistency from album to album was never as high as when they were with Glover. Even though the album opens up with the strongest track "Silver Dollar Forger", it does boast some fine killer deep cuts in "Light My Way" and "Sunshine". Salvo did a fine job with the re-masters by throwing in a ton of live cuts that are well worth the listen.

so 'Raz' is unnecessary. I am putting 'Raz'

*by P***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 22, 2017*

Pre- Hair of the Dog. The live section features much of 'Raz', but live at BBC, so 'Raz' is unnecessary. I am putting 'Raz', which I purchased as well, into the trash tonight because it contains the song 'Sold My Soul', which does indeed belittle faith in 'God and Jesus', and indicate rather a choice to 'Sold my soul to the devil; bowed to evil sorcery... ect."Pathetic. No wonder they never played that song live, it is an embarrassment.
