The echo fits into the round part (of course!) and there is a place to wind the cable to keep it tidy, and the echo’s plug slots into the square bit that projects from the top. **Q: My sockets are only about 3” above the skirting board is this going to be a problem?** A: Not really. Simply decide to carefully fix the unit to the wall,(not too tightly) above the socket; using a small screw and rawl plug; then instead of winding any excess cable around the Wall Mount stand, you will be able to fix it anywhere above or to the side area within the length of the 'Echo Dot' cable. ( I did but to the side of my TV.) **Q: Will this increase surveillance quality allowing ai to hear even more of our conversations?very worrying i wouldn’t want one even if they were free!** A: This all depends on how much aluminium foil you wrap around your head. As an added precaution I’d suggest that you wrap yourself entirely in foil, though I must add that you should leave some air holes so as to not suffocate. My wife bought one too and my daughter has got me another for Christmas! (I’m not supposed to know about that one!) All bought during the recent promotion at £18.99 each, bargain!Anyway, first off, I wasn’t overly pleased with the DC lead from the wall plug, trailing to where the echo dots are placed. Not a deal breaker by any means but I like things neat and tidy. Started to search for a solution and found these. There are plenty of similar products from other suppliers but not sold as a twin pack for a very competitive price! So I ordered a pack, paying a pound more for next day Prime delivery but I was happy with that.They arrived today and I eagerly opened the Amazon packaging to reveal an extremely high quality box containing my order. I know that packaging isn’t the be all and end all of judging a product but, my word, I was impressed straight away. Opening the box revealed the two echo dot holders, each within its own protective bag, along with card inserts to prevent the products moving around whilst in transit, again very good.A fitment guide is included and a thank you card from the supplier.Simplicity itself to install, insert the dot with the power socket facing down, this matches a cut out in the bottom edge of the holder. There are four fingers to hold the dot in place, inserted from one side and gently eased the remains two fingers over the edge of the dot and it snapped into place, held very securely. Next is to plug theDC chord back into the dot via the opening in the holder and wind it around the chord storage at the rear of the holder. When you get to the end of wrapping the chord, it just leaves the wall plug at the correct length to insert into the plug holder section of the mount. Extremely neat, perfect fit and no surplus cable to deal with! Excellent.OK, it’s not a mechanical device, so no moving parts to go wrong but the whole thing is a really good idea and stores the dot off the table or work surface etc in a neat way. There is a supplied self adhesive foam spacer that attaches to the rear of the holder, this acts as a spacer to stop the holder moving when plugged in. It works perfectly in my kitchen sockets as I have a row of tiles below the socket, on a normal wall, the spacer isn’t thick enough to stop movement. However, once plugged in, you’re not going to be moving it and it does hold securely with the 3 pin power plug provided with the dot,just thought it worth mentioning. The main reason was so that, when they're called down for food we can announce / drop in on them so they can't say "We didn't hear you." They also get to use them for music, radio, alarms and - my favourite - the fart noises skill!However, I didn't want the power cables running across furniture and to be as invisible as possible. So, when I was looking for a battery base for my speaker, I looked at other Echo Dot accessories were available. These looked like just what I wanted. The design and style matches the colour of our speakers (black) and contains the speaker, power cable and plug in a single unit.These come with an excellent, colour, instruction manual containing pictures to show you through the set-up process - which is quick and easy. The cabling is now pretty much invisible, and this has the added benefit of making the speakers easily portable from room to room - just unplug from the wall and go.Sound is good, too, and does seem a little louder - as promised.
