It is made from a soft stretchy lightweight knit material. It is not a true halter back it is more like a wide racer back. The top of the neckline ties in the back. Looks amazing on and is very, very comfortable. Not see through. Fits true to size it is stretchy. I probably could have size down to XL as it is a tiny bit big in the bust area near the arm pit...but I tied it pretty tight so it seemed to fit better. For reference I wear between 14 /16 depending on the style, 5'4.5" weigh 195lb bust size 38b.
