The big news with Big Student is that it now features a dedicated 15in padded laptop compartment. You still get two large main compartments, front utility pocket with organizer, pleated front stash pocket and zippered front stash pocket keeps all your gear organized. Review: Fits A lot! - Came as expected! As a junior in high school with a heavy course load and 4 AP's i have a bunch of binders per class that are a tight fit in a regular backpack. In this it fits everything and still leaves room for other stuff like my pencil pouch, makeup bag, brush, calculator and other miscellaneous items that i had to shove and force into my old bag. In addition the material is pretty thick and high quality so its durable and withstands the weight of my textbooks too on some days when i have to bring it to school. The style is like any other back pack, though I've noticed the size def helps with the weight a lot better without straining or leave my shoulders as sore. I do wish it was a lil cheaper as i paid out of pocket from the little money i make from my job and considering it is necessity for all students, however, for the brand, quality and the spacious room u get I think it's overall worth it

I do wish jansport had more design options for boys. They have so many cute “girly” designs but hardly anything for boys. Can you team up with NFL or college teams to do some sports logos, or maybe just sports themed backpacks in general would be a great option!

**Q: Hi, I am considering this for an active 5th grader, can this specific design backpack hold folders, a lunch bag a big water bottle?**
A: For sure. My son is in high school and this has the most interior room of any he’s ever had. It holds his laptop in its own back padded pocket, a gazillion folders and notebooks and textbooks in another main pocket, and even his basketball high tops and lunch in the third big section. Water bottle goes in side holder, and there are like 3 or 4 small zipper pockets in the front to hold alllllll the other things. It’s shocking how compact it looks from the outside too. And apparently Jansport is super popular again among teenagers; another plus. Highly recommend.

**Q: I'm super confused...as you go through the pics they change...I'm not sure how many compartments this bag actually has?**
A: A laptop padded pocket in very back,
Two more main pockets, and then a few small front pockets. But as far as big main compartments, there are three.

**Q: Quick question, can the water bottle hold a 32 ounce hydroflask?**
A: Yes

**Q: is it waterproof or weather resistant?**
A: It is not waterproof. I haven't seen a backpack that is.,unless you consider an expedition grade true backpack. You could say that it is mildly weather resistant. The fabric is a lighter weight that other JanSport packs but is still is quality material.  It is lined with a tight weave nylon material but this lining doesn't extend to the sides or bottom of the bag. I imagine that it will keep your books safe in a light rain as you're waiting for the school bus. I definitely would not set it down in a puddle of water.

It is a beautiful bag and draws plenty of compliments. But, I would classify it as a student's book bag, not a backpack.

Such an amazing bag for school, I’ll always use JanSport. My laptop is completely undamaged, because the laptop compartment is so cushiony and obviously made out of good material. I’ve had the bag for two school years and it looks good as new. It’s a good base bag to put keychains and pins on. There’s a lot of pockets, I put my binder and a few books in the bigger one and than in the 2nd compartment I put my makeup bag and emergency kit. This is such a useful bag and it works amazingly. My stuff is never wet when I walk through rain, and cleaning is super easy, just plop it into the washing machine and it’s completely spotless.
