## Description

Motorcraft DY1164 Throttle Position Sensor

Review: DONT BUY AFTERMARKET! 2008 Mustang GT accelleration/idle/stalling issues fixed - I should have taken my own advice in the title lol. Was running aftermarket TPS on my 2008 Mustang GT for at least a couple years and it worked fine enough, it was all plastic including the inner part that connects to the throttle body, and it looks like it degraded over time badly because my car was hanging RPM on downshifts (literally staying on 3k rpm stuck) and when I hit the brakes, the engine was fighting me and trying to pull the car forward! I had to shut off the car and turn it back on to stop this. I also had the car die on me in traffic on the highway and nearly stall by my neighborhood. To be honest, I thought it was the VCT solenoids failing as there were no codes or anything and the solenoids always fail on me (only use ford for those too and be careful, lots of scams out there) but I replaced the solenoids and the car was still wonky. So back to what I was saying, I pulled the aftermarket TPS sensor off my car, there was plastic dust in the sensor area of the throttle body from where it was degrading, I popped this sensor in and immediately the idle was better. I killed the active memory (can use tuner or disconnect battery for that) and then did the idle relearn procedure: handbrake up, let engine run till warm then 5 minutes past that idling, then turn on AC on full blast for another 5 minutes, then I did a drive around town and came back so the car could relearn how to shift and drive properly. Car runs so good now, I thought there was something wrong at first because of how smooth and quiet the idle was, its nice. OH and I reused the old bolts because the throttle body was not liking the new bolts with the locktite, it was getting stuck. Just reuse your old bolts, it'll be fine.
Review: OEM parts only - Solve my error codes. OEM is the best choise.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Genuine Goodness
*by G***N on December 7, 2019*

Bought this to replace my old OEM TPS sensor on my '09 Ford Mustang GT. These are the 3rd gen revision (latest design revision...) of Ford TPS sensor in which Ford has improved their accuracy, quality, fidelity & reliability over the earlier 2 design revisions (the original 1st gen w\ rounded end & slanted sides, 2nd gen w\ rounded end & straight sides). My old 1st gen OEM TPS sensor was losing fidelity at the lower voltage scale range (where most daily driving occurs from idle to approx. 2,000 RPM's) causing slower & erratic throttle response on throttle tip in, excessive delayed throttle return to idle & excessive throttle hunt at idle. Replaced it w\ this unit & it really made a difference in idle (smoothed idle out, engine idle very steady now), throttle response (better TPS signal fidelity helps PCM make more accurate LOAD calcs using MAF data so better fueling & spark timing delivery thus improves engine responsiveness) & virtually no engine RPM lag now back down to idle speed from throttle deceleration....had to reacquaint myself w\ the car as the improved throttle response made the car very touchy to drive initially! This is the FoMoCo TPS sensor to use as a replacement on any Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles that uses this style of TPS sensor, period.
