Yes, I normally put back the plastic on the plate for add on protection since used is occasional (Personal as making sure it is COOLED before doing so), after cleaning with a little moist dump cloth or paper towel, dry it up and let it sit for more air dry.. It was able to make milk tea or chai in 4 mins, quickly scramble eggs, omelets, cook rice and heat up foods very very quickly. I wonder why I have such an expensive cooktop at my home when this does such a fabulous job at preparing meals. I used heavy stainless steel copper bottom sauce pans and nonstick pans. Cleanup is very quick due to the stainless steel surface. Love it. and it will accompany me on my next road trip. I recovered the complete cost of this in my very first trip.
