Attached the hook through your dogs collar, this will prevent him or her from removing it. The other thing I do is give him a treat right before putting it on. Now when my dog sees the muzzle he sits and waits for me to put it on. I am not going to say he loves it but he does now know it is part of his daily routine. I find them needed & useful vs million of puppy bites, holey shoes & skewed laces, etc etc. Not real breathable per say (plastic not fabric), they stink like chemicals (machine washed twice to get it out), but they work for those 5-10min time outs. Sizes were great to give to 2 people with dfrnt size dogs (they eyeballed me sideways too, then called back) & another for my dog to grow in (if the issue doesn't fix itself first). I looked hard & these were the best value for the buck.
