Prior to this, I had one of those standard round lights on the ceiling that just looked like crap and did not compliment the hallway at all. I've been recently renovating my home and installed brand new hardwood floors. The design of this light was perfect for me. Classy yet contemporary. I have not had a chance to purchase the light bulbs yet but adding the antique or classic type bulbs are what I recommend as it gives it a nice touch with the styling of this light fixture. You can also set the light to be flush against the ceiling or do what I did and let it ''float'' about a quarter of a inch from the ceiling. Install was easy, 2 wires, black and white which are pretty much standard.
