I use to set my fire alarm off every time I used it. Then I cooked on 3 instead of 5 and it was very little smoke or not that much. I just made chicken ,it was not as good as it would have been if the fire was set higher ,but it still had a very good tastes. Review: Just like an outdoor grill, best to use with a gas stove/burner - The Minden Anytime grill is just like an outdoor grill. It is best used with a gas stove or gas burner. You need quite a bit of convective heat to cook on a grill, so a large gas burner is needed. I didn't try it with an electric stove, but electric stoves use conductive heat to cook. Conductive heat means the cooking surface must be in contact with the heat source. In this case, the Minden grill is about 6 inches above the heat source similar to an outdoor grill, so I suggest a gas stove would work best. And, just like an outdoor grill, it produces a lot of smoke. This is normal for grilling. And, smoke is a good thing for grilling as it adds flavor to the food. But, yes, it's a lot of smoke if you are indoors, and a lot of smoke is expected. when you cook on a grill all of the oil and juices drip down from the grill onto the fire or heat source. When you burn oil it creates smoke just like an outdoor grill. If you cook in a pan or pan fry food, the oil collects in the pan, and there is much less smoke. But, with a grill you get a lot of smoke, and that's why it's called grilling. Using a gas stove with high heat I cooked 1/4 lbs hamburgers in about 7 minutes to medium done-ness. The grill heated up in less than 10 min. The one drawback I see is that this is an indoor appliance, and most people would clean the grill, so it's extra work to clean and maintain it. With an outdoor grill, I usually don't clean it until the the next use. And, cleaning an outdoor grill is simpler. Not too impressed with the Anytime Grill. Infomercial looked awesome, but I have not experienced the same grilling effect. All in all it's great for my needs.
