I installed it myself on my 98' Toyota Camry. The photos you see there are me tube shrink soldering the reverse trigger wire from the Video Wire to the Reverse Input wire (purple on my radio's harness). I mounted it above the car's emblems. I sealed the camera cable with some Black RTV silicone adhesive. The instructions are NOT great for installation. Also, a TIP is if you want to trigger the camera when put the car in reverse you got to make of course make the same connection as I did in my photos. But, also with the power wire it the camera system brings you have to take the black and ground it to the harnesses ground wire (mine was white with a black line) and then take the red wire from the power wire and along with the Video Wire's red wire mate them TOGETHER to the reverse power wire (which is also red) on the car's reverse harness connector. This part was confusing for me because the power wire this system brings also comes with its own shorter thinner red wire and I didn't know where it went. But it's NOT needed for the installation. There is no problem with the camera design. It only does what you tell it to do. If you want it on when you back up, you need to connect the camera's power supply wire to the source which has power when you back up, like the wire connected to the backup lights. Otherwise, it will stay on whenever it receives power. **Q: Do you put it on drive for the front view to work?** A: Out would display all the time unless you put a switched power line to the camera **Q: The camera power cable has a RED & BLACK but it also has a much shorter red as well. My question, where does that short little red wire go to?** A: Its been a while since I installed it bro...It was quite the job, running wires all the way from the hatch area to the very front of the car radio which had a screen and input for the backup camera..If the red and black are the camera power wires, I believe the extra wire May be Either the Trigger wire which activates power to the camera Or it may be for the cameras builtin reverse lights which light up when the camera is powered on....There IS a wire for that feature and it can be left un attached if you Dont want the lights but they work Very good for night time when backing up...This info Should be in ur hookup diagram in the kit...the camera has been working great since it was installed, the image looks like a real factory system... we need to wipe the lense clean every now and then if the images get cloudy.. **Q: I want to purchase this because i pull a trailer alot. Install is pretty simple, don’t bother with the terrible instructions, just watch a YouTube video if you need to. DEFINITELY don’t trust the instructions about cutting the loops to reverse the image.. I was trying to install it too quick and just trusted the instructions (or what I understood from the broken English) and cut one of the wires to “flip” the image, thinking that would make it the correct way. Apparently that was not correct.
