Hard plastic outer (with silicon strips for grip) and and soft silicon interior for protection of the phone. The main feature is the raised rubber strip around the edge of the screen really helps protect the phone screen from damage. I always use a screen protector and this raised edge stops the screen protector getting damaged and cracked around the edges which can happen with cases without the raised edge The fit it tight enough to stop fluff and bits getting in between the phone and the case which can scratch the phone over time. The buttons work flawlessly Never broken a screen, never damaged a phone. Worst I have had is a cracked screen protector. I"m not clumsy but I do occasionally drop my phone. I occasionally try a different case but always seem to come back to these.

**Q: What is the drop-protection rating? other speck products mention a "x"-foot drop-protection. how many feet is this one rated for?**
A: Sorry I don’t know the rating, but I dropped my phone from about 5’ and it was fine. It was a little difficult to remove from the case (needed to use without the case for astronomy) so that’s a plus.   I really like the case, easy to hold with the ridges on the side.

**Q: Does wireless changing work with the case?**
A: You can wirelessly charge with this case.

**Q: Does a tempered glass screen protector fit this case? If so, which brand is best?**
A: Yes it fits... I have one on now but I don’t know which one it is. I believe any will fit, it gives you a little bit of space around the the tempered glass when you apply it anyway so they don’t even touch.

A: Oh yes.

I've been using the Speck Candyshell case on different versions of iPhones for years. Hard plastic outer (with silicon strips for grip) and and soft silicon interior for protection of the phone.
