I don't know whether, if a dog or cat were to drink water that had this algae control in it, it would make the dog or cat sick or not. I would suggest you call the producer of the product. I use it all the time in my pond, and on one occasion I did call the company that produces it. Surely, they could tell you if it's safe to use around dogs and cats. **Q: Is it safe for bees, when used in an outdoor fountain?!** A: I really don’t know. I notice that bees take water from a chlorinated pools and muddy puddles. Didn’t hurt my fish. **Q: Can I use this in my fish tank** A: you could, but I wouldn't unless your tank is at least 150 gallons. Controlling the proper mix would be touchy in smaller amounts. There are better products for aquarium use to accomplish the same thing. **Q: Can i use this in my 40 gallon tank? I had been using the API "algaefix" for like 2 years. While that stuff Will help kill off floating "green pea soup", it cant entirely get rid of it on its own. This meant if I wasnt cleaning the sludge off my filters every other day, I still had pea soup and was extremely upset. I knew I had pretty fish but I couldnt see them! Enter allll the other API products. I now use This as well as the pond-zyme sludge destroyer AND the API ECOFIX sludge destroyer (all on different days). My 1300 gallon pond finally became clear and has STAYED clear. I am constantly so happy I could almost cry.
